2007 Foose Hemisfear - My Pick for Best of SEMA 2006 In person, this car was breathtaking. I give it my best of show nod. CL LEGENDARY DESIGNER CHIP FOOSE' TO BUILD “DREAM CAR” WITH SPONSORSHIP FROM RC2 CORPORATION Mid-Engined “Hemisfear” Development Model Unveiled at Opening of Petersen Automotive Museum's Chip Foose Exhibit OAK BROOK, IL - Legendary designer Chip Foose, head of Foose Design and star of the TLC hit show Overhaulin,' is partnering with RC2 Corporation to create the JL FULL THROTTLE™ “Hemisfear” designed by Chip Foose, Foose's ultimate personal dream car. As part of the sponsorship agreement to build the full-size hot rod, RC2 will introduce small and large collector size die-cast versions of the car as part of its new JL Full Throttle premium line of customized, highly detailed “Hardcore Horsepower” die-cast collector cars, set to launch in major retail stores this coming August, and featuring a selection of original Chip Foose custom vehicles. A developmental ¼-scale model of the JL Full Throttle Hemisfear concept, painted in primer and complete with wheels and tires, was unveiled at the Petersen Automotive Museum, as part of the preview of the Museum's “Chip Foose: From Pen to Pavement” exhibit. In addition, Foose showed his original sketches and the ¼-scale model illustrating first hand how a vehicle goes from renderings to scale models to eventually full-size body mock-ups before the finished product rolls into the showroom. “I've had this car in my sketch book for years,” says Foose. “I originally designed it in 1990 when I was a student at Art Center College of Design, as a project for Chrysler to create a niche market vehicle. Instead I wanted to create a whole new niche market. Much of my design concept was the basis for the Plymouth Prowler.” “Then In 1999 I created my own roadster version of the sketched concept for Fred Warren, but I've really always wanted to build the coupe version. Now, thanks to the great folks at RC2 Corporation, with their support and assistance, I can fulfill a long-held dream and make the JL Full Throttle Hemisfear a reality.” Foose's roadster version that he created for Fred Warren is the famous Shock Wave, which won the prestigious America's Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award in 1999, the first of an unprecedented six AMBR award-winning vehicles that Foose has been involved with in the past seven years. The JL Full Throttle Hemisfear coupe is described by Foose as a cross between a Muscle car and a hot rod. Incorporating a mid-engine design, it is equipped with a specially built 426 Hemi engine and a ZF transaxle, with the motor visible through the rear window. The car, when completed will feature JL Full Throttle trim throughout, including custom seats, engine and valve covers, with the exterior painted in JL Full Throttle's signature green. Every body panel, all exterior trim and interior appointments, performance upgrades, wheels and chassis underpinnings will be unique to this amazing, one-of-a-kind vehicle. The only thing the JL Full Throttle Hemisfear will share with any production car is its Hemi powerplant. “Chip is working directly with RC2's designers to ensure that our JL Full Throttle ‘Hemisfear' die-cast collector versions carry the exact lines, details and paint as his full-sized version,” says RC2 President Peter J. Henseler. “When completed, the Hemisfear will become a ‘must-have' for die-cast enthusiasts, collectors or anyone with a passion for the custom car culture.” RC2 Corporation's lineup of JL Full Throttle “Hemisfear” models will be on display at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas in November 2006. The die-cast lineup will be alongside the first public viewing of the RC2-sponsored full-size version of “The Car That Chip Built.” ABOUT RC2® CORPORATION RC2 Corporation (www.rc2corp.com) is a leading designer, producer and marketer of innovative, high-quality toys, collectibles, and juvenile products that strives to build consumer loyalty by fulfilling the passions of all ages.
