1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 427 silver

From a collection in Conn. comes the Top Gun of the Muscle Car Period. This is the rare and near legendary 425 hp COPO Camaro. With 43¸998.5 miles on the odometer and having been through a very sensitive restoration. It is 1969 again and you have the meanest car on the strip! There is a strong but fair reserve. The History: This documented COPO Camaro 427 was the personal car of Jim Mattison - A GM employee who was involved in the COPO project. Below are specifications documented by George Zapora, General Motors of Canada Limited. - This COPO Camaro was the subject of a factory level nut and bolt restoration. The paint is flawless. - What is a COPO Camaro? - In 1969 a special run of Camaros were requested to be built that met the more severe requirements of race duty and required special modifications. Because these vehicles were to built beyond the normal specs of a "street car", they were built to a Central Office Production Order (COPO) this was what General motors used to deviate from normal production standards usually for special show cars or competition only vehicles. - The model 9561 COPO Camaro started off as a SS 396 model and was then modified with a L72 427 cid engine with a factory rating of 425 horsepower which is believed to be a low rating to meet street legal requirements of the time. The actual rating is believed to be 435 or more. - Other COPO installed equipment included dual exhaust, ZL2 cowl induction hood, heavy duty 4-row radiator, Heavy Duty front springs, Heavy Duty rear springs, Heavy Duty version 12-bolt rear axle and G80 posi-traction. General Motors did not keep any actual records of how many 9561 COPOs were actually built. It is estimated that around 500 of these "Super Camaros" were produced. - 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 427 - VIN 124379N661041 - Shipping Date: June 25, 1969 - Trim 711-Black Vinyl - Paint 69 - Cortez Silver - Prod.
