1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Hemi Prototype - Sold at $279,995

This may just be the rarest Z28 Camaro and the only Hemi Chevy ever made. The car, the engine, and Smokey Yunick were destined to be together. This car has the distinction of being one of the most uniquely appointed marks of its kind in existence. It is a rarity with unparalleled uniqueness since it is the only 1968 Camaro Z/28 with a Chevrolet Engineering Built, 302 Cubic Inch, semi-hemispherical head prototype engine, This includes correct prototype aluminum Cross Ram intake, prototype air cleaner, prototype Holley carbs, prototype cam, lifter, and valves, prototype valve covers, and prototype exhaust headers. In addition, to the extraordinary power train, is an equally exceptional driveline and brake system. This production Z/28, was appointed with the "Four Wheel Disc Brake System" that was available thru Chevrolet Parts departments as a heavy duty Service Option. What makes it even More unusual is the fact that this equipment along with an electric fuel pump was installed at the dealership prior to vehicle delivery, and was delivered to a racing dealership in Kansas. Smokey Yunick requested that the car not be shown or advertised due to reluctance to destroy the engine per Chevrolet. It has been in storage for 25 years. This Camaro was raced from 1968 to 1978. A copy of the racing log from 1977-1978, during Smokey Yunick's direct involvement is included with the car. Also, included is an extensive certified engineering report documenting all the prototype pieces racing parts and racing history. Racing parts removed from the car are included in addition to these documents. This Camaro was totally restored from the ground up beginning in 1988 completed 1992. In 2006 RMA restorations completed a frame off restoration. The original color of this car is Lemans Blue with a black interior and was used as a race car since day 1 and never driven on the street. This car retains all of the special factory Trans Am race parts that were straight from Chevrolet Engineering's "Back Door". This Camaro has been in several magazines including HotRod, Muscle Machine, Chevy, and many others. It will be featured in the new book " Forty Years of Camaro," and was featured in the book, " The Camaro Untold Story" and is extensively documented on the Prestige Page at http://www.guinns-engineering.com/Quang%20Le%20Hemi.htm. This car would be an outstanding edition to any Chevrolet collection or Race car collection and really would be nice if it wound up in a museum so it can be enjoyed by the public.
