1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mk1 BT7 Roadster - Sold at $58,500 1960 AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MK1 BT7 2+2 ROADSTER The 3000 MK1 The definitive first “Big” Healey, introduced in the spring of 1959, with its 6 cylinder, 2,912 cc engine capable of 115 mph. Engine: Overhead valve, twin SU carburetors, 2,912 cc, 124 bhp, at 4,600 rpm, thermal choke. Gearbox: Four speed manual with overdrive on third and fourth gears Suspension: Front, independent coil springs, rear, live axle, semi-elliptic springs. Brakes: Front disc, rear drum This Healey… Delivered shiny new to Los Angeles, California in 1959, this all matching numbers Healey has always been on the West Coast. In the mid 1980’s, it went from California to Alaska, where it was last registered in 1991. The Roadster continued to be well cared for, remained dry, sound, complete and accident free. (It did receive a colour change, red with black interior, white soft top.) In February, 2005, this 79K mile, completely original Healey was brought to Seattle, Washington. There it received a fully documented, Gold Standard professional, frame-off, nut & bolt restoration. The Heritage factory record was sent for, received, and followed in order to bring the car back to its exact original 1959 specifications. Rare removable Hard Top Included Serial Number: 804 Build Date: June 10, 1960 Austin Healey was one of the few manufacturers to seriously consider the construction of their removable hard tops. Included in this sale is an original, removable hard top, which transforms the Convertible Roadster into a high speed touring car. Painted in correct English White, as per this car’s Heritage Certificate, all trim and hardware are true original pieces. Headliner and padding are exquisite, in correct colour; this rare item stands alone as a truly collectible piece of Austin Healey history. (Restoration complete by time of sale.) Mechanical Restoration and Details Opening the hood reveals a very impressive, precision rebuild. The detail of the engine & compartment show off the stock Healey power plant. This Roadster starts instantly, and accelerates to top speed effortlessly. The engine, transmission and all mechanical systems have been removed, rebuilt as needed, detailed and reinstalled.
